StumbleUpon LeoVegas hits back at Swedish regulations despite Q2 successes August 13, 2020 Share ‘Volatile’ Swedish regulations see Raketech grow global focus August 19, 2020 Submit Related Articles Betsson outrides pandemic challenges as regulatory dramas loom July 21, 2020 Share Oskar Mühlbach, Garbo.comMr Green chief venture officer (CVO) Oskar Mühlbach has been tasked with relaunching Garbo.com, the company’s female player focused online casino brand. We caught up with Mühlbach to discuss his plans for the Swedish target market, providing a customer-centric experience and standing out within a crowded industry.SBC: With the relaunch of this product, what have you done differently and what are your key targets for the Swedish market? OM: At a first glance, Garbo.com might not look very different to other online casinos. Or perhaps it might even look like a simplified version of the average online casino. However, the technical and operational infrastructure that holds the casino together is far from this. Garbo.com is built with focus on being able to provide relevant and engaging content in combination with an easy to use e-commerce inspired games sorting/recommendation engine. The key target for the Swedish market is to offer a true customer-centric experience that is engaging, relevant and rewarding for the user. Our engagement concept is built on the reason why you play rather than what or how you play. You will see more of this once we have passed the initial dry run period.SBC: You have stated your attention to utilise Mr Green’s competences, digital knowledge and supplier relations; what sort of head start does this give you over companies launching without the backing of a major operator?OM: Over the years, we have managed to build a solid technical and operational infrastructure capable of providing an efficient product in several jurisdictions. Adding another brand, making true use of this fact is simply a way to leverage on investments that we have already made.Having Mr Green backing us up furthermore guarantees that we can offer our customers a great range of games, great service in a responsible gambling environment already from starts which could have been tricky if we had started from scratch, without the support from Mr Green.SBC: You mention that the Garbo site has a “sometimes provocative profile”; why do you feel this gives you a competitive advantage?OM: We believe that it is important to engage the customer. Especially in this industry where the customer offering is pretty much the same everywhere (even though we all do our best to stand out in the crowd). Therefore, a small, niche brand that engages the customer could have an advantage on the big dragons. With that said, we are rather loved by some, than “not disliked” by everyone.SBC: Previously, Garbo.com has been described as a ‘perfect gambling site’ for women; is this still the idea?OM: Yes. Or at least we aim to be. The foundation is in place and we are now working hard to as soon as possible to deliver on that statement.
I honestly never thought we’d see him again. But there he was in the Raiders’ 2019 season opener Monday night, in all of his splendor, with all of his swagger. It was 2016 Derek Carr. And boy was he fun to watch. The Raiders’ quarterback looked every bit like his 2016 vintage —his almost-won-MVP self — in the Raiders’ 24-16 win over the Broncos at the Coliseum. Carr completed 22 of 26 passes for 259 yards and a touchdown, and all-in-all looked in complete control at the line of …
3 December 2009South Africa has introduced an Advanced Passenger Processing system, and will work closely with Interpol, international travel agencies and Fifa to monitor for the possible entry of soccer hooligans into the country for the 2010 Fifa World Cup.The system, which started operating on 23 November, will help the Department of Home Affairs to check incoming passengers against a prohibited list of passengers before boarding planes at their respective foreign countries.Dedicated Fifa lanesDeputy Home Affairs Minister Malusi Gigaba said that due to the high volumes of people that will be coming into the country for the World Cup, dedicated lanes have been established at both OR Tambo and Cape Town international airports for use by Fifa accredited members. He said a total of 3 000 Fifa accredited delegates were expected for the 2010 Final Draw on Friday. A total of 2 000 of them are already in the country, while the remaining are expected to land in the country in the next two days.Visa exemptions, pre-screeningGigaba said visa exemptions were only made available to Fifa accredited delegates in possession of letters of accreditation from the world football body. However, delegates are pre-screened by the National Intelligence Agency before being granted with a visa exemption. A dedicated unit was also available to Fifa for the fast tracking of all visa applications. The department has also established an Immigration Response Unit which will be deployed during periods of congestion at the ports of entry with a 15 to 30 minutes response time.24-hour operations centreGigaba said the department has already made significant contribution towards ensuring that the Final Draw is a success.“The draw event is the first step towards ensuring our state of readiness for 2010. In this regard, we have implemented the 24-hour operations centre to monitor and unlock logjams.“We have also implemented an extensive communications campaign abroad and we are working with travel agencies, airlines and embassies to ensure the smooth passage of Fifa accredited delegates including the media,” he said.Source: BuaNews
10 August 2012BMW South Africa’s Rosslyn Plant outside Pretoria will begin exporting its 3 Series vehicles to China later this year, after receiving a China Quality Certification clearance permit from the authorities there last week.BMW South Africa is the first car manufacturer in the country to be awarded the permit since the establishment of the country’s Motor Industry Development Programme (MIDP) in 1995.The MIDP is a support programme aimed at the development of a sustainable, globally competitive automotive industry by providing South African manufacturers incentives such as a reduction on import duties.China is one of the fastest growing major markets in the world, and BMW sales in the country are growing by over 40% every year. “The South African-built vehicles will go a long way towards addressing the booming demand in this market,” BMW South Africa said in a statement. The Rosslyn Plant was awarded the China Quality Certification following a comprehensive audit which confirmed that the plant’s production and quality management systems met global standards. It follows a R2.2-billion upgrade of the plant, which re-opened in March this year. Its production capacity will increase significantly in the coming years to exceed 90 000 units per year, BMW South Africa’s managing director Bodo Donauer said.“The China certification is a great vote of confidence in our plant and our people. It bodes well not only for our sustainability as a company, but also for the broader motoring industry in South Africa,” Donauer said.“While our Chinese exports will start at a small level at first, the plan is for this market to ultimately make up around 10% of our total export volume. In 2012, we plan to export around 3 900 units to China.”The Rosslyn plant was the first BMW plant to be established outside Europe, in 1973. It currently exports 50% of the vehicles it produces to the USA, with the remainder going to local and African markets, Canada, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Australia.“With more than R10-billion invested, BMW South Africa has led the local motor industry in a number of respects in terms of production and export,” the company said.“At the same time, BMW’s development of its production and export programme has been the catalyst for the company’s sustainable growth and contribution to the South African economy.”SAinfo reporter

Valletta: Interior ministers from four EU countries meet Monday in Malta to try to work out an automatic system to determine which countries will welcome migrants rescued in the central Mediterranean. The ministers from France, Germany, Italy and Malta hope to end the long, drawn-out negotiations that have seen vulnerable asylum seekers including babies stranded at sea, sometimes for weeks. They take place ahead of a European summit in October in Luxembourg. Also Read – Saudi Crown Prince Salman ‘snubbed’ Pak PM Imran, recalled his private jet from US: Report The mooted automatic distribution system would only be a temporary solution until the current system, the “Dublin regulation”, can be revised. Its critics have long argued that it places an unfair burden on the Mediterranean frontier countries Italy, Malta, Greece and Spain. Italy’s new, pro-EU government has moved quickly to turn the page on the anti-migrant policies pursued by former far-right interior minister Matteo Salvini, who closed the ports to those rescued. Also Read – Iraq military admits ‘excessive force’ used in deadly protests After a meeting last week, Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte and French President Emmanuel Macron both called for a reform of Europe’s “ineffective” policy. Countries that did not volunteer to take migrants should face financial penalties, they argued. At an informal meeting of foreign and interior ministers in Paris in June, 15 countries agreed to the creation of a “European Solidarity Mechanism”. Croatia, Finland, France, Ireland, Germany, Lithuania, Luxembourg and Portugal said they would “actively” take part. But Hungary’s nationalist prime minister, Viktor Orban, rejected redistribution quotas in comments made during a visit to Rome Saturday. Monday’s meeting in Malta will try to decide where those rescued can be relocated — and whether that covers just those fleeing war and persecution, or economic migrants too. France and Germany are reportedly willing to receive 25 percent of people plucked from vessels in the Mediterranean. But they are not keen on Italy’s idea for migrants to be sent to countries across southern Europe on a rotation basis. Italy could take 10 percent of new arrivals — a lower proportion because it has already hosted tens of thousands of new arrivals. The number of migrants arriving in Europe via the Mediterranean has dropped sharply in recent years. The UN’s refugee body recorded nearly 115,000 arrivals in 2018, down from 170,000 in 2017 and over one million in 2015. European migration commissioner Dimitris Avramopoulos will also attend the Malta talks, as will Finland’s interior minister — as they hold the EU presidency.
New Delhi: President Ram Nath Kovind on Thursday said Gandhian values are relevant to address a range of contemporary issues the world is facing today such as terrorism, violence, corruption, discrimination and climate change. The global community will benefit from following the path shown by him, Kovind said as he inaugurated a seminar on ‘Spirituality for Human and Social Development’ organised by the Ahimsa Vishwa Bharti to mark 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. He made it clear that the upliftment of human society is possible only on the foundation of truth, non-violence, peace and harmony, he added. “These thoughts of Gandhiji are relevant even today, and will remain relevant in future as well. “Gandhian values are relevant to address a range of contemporary issues our world is facing, such as terrorism, violence, corruption, immorality, discrimination based on religion, race, language and climate-change,” Kovind said. He also urged Ahimsa Vishwa Bharti to ensure the maximum participation of youth in their programmes. “On October 2, we will all celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi whose birthday has been recognised by the UN as the International Day of Non-Violence. “This means that Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophy of non-violence is useful for the whole world. At the same time, it is also a testimony of deep respect for Gandhiji globally,” Kovind said. He added that he feels happy to see that people are conscious and active about the relevance of Gandhi’s ideals. “I believe that awareness and diligence towards those values will make our country and the world better,” the President said. At the core of all religions lies the spirit of welfare of the entire humanity, he said. “Gandhiji adopted this spiritual form of religion. The same feeling of welfare of the entire humanity is also contained in the message of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, which considers the whole world as one family, which is an integral part of Indian culture,” Kovind added.
