Emery demands more from Arsenal players after Man Utd drawby Freddie Taylor25 days agoSend to a friendShare the loveUnai Emery is demanding more from his Arsenal players after Monday’s draw with Manchester United. The Gunners are fourth on the table after seven games, seven points behind leaders Liverpool. He told Sky Sports: “I want more – more in the result and in the performance but we are progressing. We were competitive but we can do better. We can control moments with the ball better and take more chances in the box.”We have young players who can take confidence. Bukayo [Saka] is progressing well but we need other players too. This is not the best in terms of points but one point can be good if we win next Sunday against Bournemouth.”We are very happy with him [Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang] and he is with his goal. We need more players with the ability to score.”I think Bukayo is getting good performances for us. We are having to play on Thursday and then on Sunday. You have seen the players being competitive.” About the authorFreddie TaylorShare the loveHave your say

New Delhi: A team of women’s rights activists on Tuesday raised concerns over alleged human rights violations in Kashmir after a visit to the Valley, and demanded that Article 370 be restored and the Army as well as paramilitary forces be withdrawn with immediate effect. Presenting a “fact-finding report”, the five-member team also called for the immediate restoration of all communication lines, including internet and mobile networks. The group, comprising Annie Raja, Kawaljit Kaur and Pankhuri Zaheer from the National Federation of Indian Women, Poonam Kaushik from the Pragatisheel Mahila Sangathan and Syeda Hameed from the Muslim Women’s Forum, visited Kashmir from September 17-21. The group, which addressed a press conference here on their findings, visited several villages in the districts of Shopian, Pulwama and Bandipora. “We wanted to see with our own eyes how this 43-day lockdown had affected the people, particularly women and children,” the report stated. The team demanded that the Army and paramilitary forces be withdrawn with immediate effect from the Valley in order to achieve normalcy. “Restore Article 370 and 35A. All future decisions about the political future of Jammu and Kashmir must be taken through a process of dialogue with the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” the activists said.

The championship was launched last month to add context to the longest format of the game. Kolkata: Alleging that Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation (KMRCL) is yet to fulfil its promise of rehabilitating them, the Bowbazar traders — who had to shut their shops after several buildings in the area developed cracks and some collapsed due to a tunnel-boring work in August-September — protested on Monday. The protestors disrupted the ongoing repair and reconstruction work in Durga Pithuri Lane in the area, demanding assurances in writing. The shops and offices at Durga Pithuri Lane, Shyakra Para Lane and B B Ganguly Street in Bowbazar are shut since August 31 when the buildings started developing cracks due to the tunneling work for East-West Metro corridor. The KMRCL had assured the affected businessmen that they would be rehabilitated. A committee was formed to hear the issues of the shop owners of the concerned area and a proposal was given to pay an ad hoc amount of Rs 50,000 to the those affected. We don’t know what will happen to the labours who worked in our shops,” said a trader. The KMRCL officials have held several meetings with the traders. Residents of Bowbazar were left shaken after cracks appeared on over 60 buildings due to the work on the East-West Metro. Experts and engineers working on the project – which is being deemed as India’s technological marvel considering the underwater Metro tunnel passing through river Hooghly – suggested that water leaking into the tunnel resulted in a cave in. The machine, which was boring the tunnel, through which Howrah Maidan-bound trains will run, hit a giant aquifer. Water from the aquifer flooded the tunnel, triggering subsidence and causing severe damage to many buildings.(With inputs from Indian Express)
Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh government has removed Sanjeev Shami as chief of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) set up to probe the honey-trap and black-mailing racket busted in the state last month. Shami has been replaced by cyber cell’s Special Director General Rajendra Kumar, according to an order issued by the state Home department late Tuesday night. With this, the SIT has been re-constituted for the second time in nine days. Besides Kumar, who is a 1985-batch IPS officer, the SIT will have two other members – cyber cell’s Additional Director General (ADG) Milind Kanaskar and Indore’s Senior Superintendent of Police Ruchi Vardhan Misra, the order said. Last week, CID Inspector General Sreenivas Verma was replaced by ADG Shami as the SIT chief. Shami was then appointed after Verma apparently expressed reluctance to head the probe into the high-profile racket. The state government set up the SIT on April 23, hours after a PIL was filed before the Indore bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, seeking a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the racket. They want to save some people involved in it,” MP Congress spokesman Bhupendra Gupta claimed. “Two-three days ago, the Supreme Court (while hearing a case) observed that ‘CBI is not God’, while emphasising that not every case needs to go to the central probing agency,” he said. When the BJP was in power in the state, it opposed the Congress’ plea for a CBI probe into the multi-crore admission and recruitment-related ‘Vyapam’ scam, he said. It was the Supreme Court that finally ordered probe by the central agency into the scam, he added. Five women and a man were arrested from Indore and Bhopal last month for allegedly running the honey-trap and blackmailing racket. The racket was busted after an engineer of the Indore Municipal Corporation approached police, claiming he was being blackmailed over some objectionable video clips by the accused who were trying to extort about Rs 3 crore from him. The accused – Aarti Dayal (29), Monika Yadav (18), Shweta Vijay Jain (39), Shweta Swapnil Jain (48), Barkha Soni (34) and Omprakash Kori (45) – are currently in judicial custody.

I invite thinkers, entrepreneurs and tech leaders to be at the forefront of spreading Gandhi’s ideas through innovation,” Modi wrote in the New York Times, in an article titled ‘Why India and the World Need Gandhi’. Modi also travelled to Gujarat to address a gathering in the Sabarmati Ashram. The government used the day to stress on cleanliness, the dangers of single-use plastic and the aim of making India open defecation free. The celebrations appeared to be a game of one-upmanship between the Congress and the BJP with both organising marches, Gandhi’s favourite way of reaching out to the people, in their bid to cash in on his legacy. BJP president Amit Shah kicked-off a four-month exercise in which party leaders across the country will undertake foot marches and address public events to mark his 150th birth anniversary. The Congress, which has seen over the years a gradual appropriation of some of its stalwarts by the BJP, launched a counter-drive with its president Sonia Gandhi taking a swipe at the Modi government, saying the Mahatma would have been pained by what has happened in India over the last few years. While the BJP’s called its march ‘Sankalp (pledge) Yatra’, the Congress named its march, ‘Gandhi Sandesh Yatra’. Prayer meetings were organised in numerous places connected with Gandhi. In Gujarat, for instance, school students gathered at Hriday Kunj, Gandhi’s home at the Sabarmati Ashram, to attend an all-faith prayer meet.
